 “Do I need a Serum? Do I still need to use a serum when I am using a moisturizer”? These are excellent questions that I get a lot and very easy to explain:

The primary functions of serums are:

• To penetrate the skin on a deeper level, feeding it necessary nutrients
• To prevent fine lines and wrinkles
• To ensure that your skin does not dry out
• To help heal and repair skin damaged by free radicals

A moisturizer’s purpose is to then lock in hydration and protect our skin’s outer layers after the serum is applied. So, as we can see serums and moisturizers help each other by giving us a better shield of extra protection that our skin needs, year-round.

How much do I use?

Depending on the type of serum, usually only a few drops for your whole face, neck and décolletage (or about a pea-sized amount). A serum should be applied after cleansing and toning, before your moisturizer, every AM and PM. It contains a high concentration of active ingredients to penetrate deeply to deliver those nutrients and beneficial ingredients.
