Soothe your soles at home for happy feet

Soothe your soles at home for happy feet

Sandal season is upon us and that means its time to get our toes in tip-tip shape. Even if you get regular pedicures, your feet can still use some added attention at home in between visits to maintain proper hydration and avoid any unnecessary dryness that can lead to calluses. Our feet take us everywhere, so its important to take care of them as well as you take care of the skin on your face to keep it soft and supple. Here are 3 easy ways to keep your feet happy, healthy and hydrated at home:

STEP 1: Soak your feet in a foot bath

Prepare a large bowl or tub of warm water and add in a half capful of a Phyto-Aromatic Bath Oil. Soaking the feet will help cleanse, and provide a relieving experience to achy feet – overall its really soothing and pampering. Leave feet submerged for about 15-20 minutes.

We recommend using the Phyto-Aromatic Bath Oil from Atlas which lends itself to the “happy” theme. Your feet will be delightfully cleansed and nourished, and your mood-boosted from the aromatherapeutic benefit of pure orange blossom essential oil. Or, if you prefer an extra comforting and warming experience, use the Phyto-Aromatic Bath Oil from Bengalore with Cardamom and Vanilla essential oils.

Soaking the feet will help soften the skin, to prepare it for our next step…

STEP 2: Exfoliate feet to buff off dead skin and dryness

There’s something about having baby-soft feet that makes us feel so wonderful. You can achieve this by regularly and gently exfoliating your feet – as we exfoliate the skin on our body and face. Now that the skin has been prepped, the dead, dry skin will be sloughed away easily, revealing a new softer layer. We have several natural exfoliant options, our favorite being the Aromatic Scrub with Spices, because its really an aromatic home-spa experience in itself. This sea-salt based-scrub contains soothing Vanilla, Nutmeg and Cinnamon essential oils which combine to relieve any achiness or soreness while salt naturally draws out impurities. If your feet are extra dry, try using the Sublime Body Scrub, which is an organic sugar-based scrub with the uber-hydrating ingredient, Monoi. This Polynesian skin-healing ingredient is known to calm and repair damaged skin that is very dry or flaky.

STEP 3: Add a new layer of protective hydration

The finale in your home happy feet routine is to add on the hydration now that skin is newly exfoliated. We recommend the Tender Foot Cream, a cooling, hydrating foot cream for silky-soft, soothed feet. It contains a very medicinal combination of Arnica, Menthol, Shea Butter and Aloe Vera to help intensely re-hydrate dry feet, providing a feeling of comfort to tired feet, with no greasy residue left behind. If feet are very, very dry, the Sublime Body Balm is an excellent solution at bedtime.
